Howdy Y'all!
Covid craziness brought me back to the USA, and I'll be staying here AT LEAST until the lockdowns are over, but perhaps much longer...
I've always had a dream of moving to the countryside and living off the land, and I'm already doing that here pretty much. My roommates grow their own food, and we're working on self-sufficiency as much as possible. If you can't beat the man, just forget about him and BUILD!
Before moving here, I stayed for a month in Sandy Ridge, NC, home of the Temple of the Holy Name, here's pics from that first month:
So many white tailed deer around!
I helped with this final harvest of the season. The kale was super yummy and fresh, like everything else actually!
Workhorse, his name's either Bob or Barney ;)
My best friend's flute collection. Not bad eh!
One benefit of living here is doing work like this, which is purposeful and helps me be a better man!
I needed a ride to the airport during a high holiday feast, which was difficult, but so rewarding!
Between BITCOIN and HOLY FLOWERS, I am undoubtedly blessed :)
This was a ton of fun, we made everyone around us smile. Guess I'll need to learn a musical instrument myself...
Mexican Ice Cream. Worth it!
RIP Chinese tea bottle. It dropped shortly after taking the photo. Still got a lot of stuff from China I use on a daily basis though, mostly chopsticks.
These geese live just next to me
Always wanted to ride in the back of a pickup like this...With no seat belt of course.
Priddy's General Store.
Open since 1880s. REALLY tough bike ride getting here, these hills in NC are better for motorbikes than bicycles...
This is the closest store of any kind from where I live, about 30 minute bike ride.
New bike! Currently the ONLY vehicle I own. Have zero interest in buying a car and paying insurance monthly, it's a scam I despise, especially considering how little I'd use it. All my roommate's have a car...
First time having JAMAICAN food!
One of our neighbors here started a little food business for the locals, 8 bucks per meal, different cuisine every day.
Yup
"Hanging Rock"
Closest attraction.
A friend has owned this land for months. Clearing this path to make a driveway is the very first step he's taken. Congrats!
My bachelor roommate's have been living for months without handles on their kitchen cabinets. Figured I'd fix that up, by hand, the ole fashioned way!
First time in person meeting with my diksa guru, HD Goswami.
(diksa guru basically means a baptizing/initiating guru, my REAL guru died in '77)
Funeral for a God-brother :(
First time using crayons in years, how'd I do?
"I like your glasses! Can I try them on?!"
A roommate begged me to come outside and take this photo...said it was really perfect...not sure I get it yet...
